Tina Cook

Vice Chair

Position on committee: Vice Chair

Length of time you’ve been involved with JYPA: My eldest daughter Molly was in School Daze in 2019 and then Molly and Lily, my younger daughter, were involved with the Coronavirus capsule project in 2020. My husband Mark then started getting involved with JYPA by helping with set for Romeo & Juliet. He then joined the committee and as all the family were by then involved, I had no option really but to join in and I was asked to become the Treasurer in 2023.

How did you get involved: Prior to becoming Treasurer, I chaparoned for Annie Jr and got to know many of the very talented young people who are part of JYPA. It is a fantastic charity providing opportunities to young people of every walk of life.

What do you bring to the group - skills/expertise etc: Luckily because of the job I do, I’m quite good with figures, which helps as I am Treasurer. I’m also fairly organised which helps too as I have been responsible for arranging the costumes for Frozen Jr (2023), Cinderella (2024) and SpongeBob (2024) of which I was also producer.

What would your dream role be in a musical or play: I love musicals. Unfortunately I’m not a great singer and would never have the courage to be on the stage, which is why I enjoy supporting our young people from back stage. But if I did, I would love to be in Come From Away.
